Headaches

Nine out of ten Americans suffer from headaches, so you’re not alone.  The question is whether these headaches are intermittent or frequent? Are they dull or debilitating?  Do you take a pain pill or just wait for it to go away?

Cervical manipulation can be an effective option for tension headaches that originate in the neck.  Most primary headaches are associated with tension in the muscles of the neck. Our more sedentary lifestyles and heavy computer use are increasing the tension in our necks, shoulders, and spine, leading to an increase in headaches.

For the prevention of headaches, Dr. Minafri may suggest taking schedules breaks, doing stretches, and possibly addling low-impact exercise to your day.  Avoid clenching your teeth. Make a conscious effort to keep your teeth from touching, except when eating and swallowing. Teeth clenching irritates the TMJ, adding to the tension in the head and neck.

To alleviate a headache, Dr. Minafri may make spine adjustments to reduce the stress on your spinal cord and your entire system.  He may also suggest ways to improve posture, achieve better ergonomics at your workstation, and offer exercises and relaxation techniques.
